12H Sebring 2024 Sees Inaugural Wet Conditions With CoRe Victory! [Split 2]
The iRacing.com 12 Hours of Sebring 2024 witnessed a significant milestone as the event embraced the newly introduced rainy conditions in the latest iRacing update. With this groundbreaking change, CoRe SimRacing and their squad of Pascal Stix, Maik Paluch & Sven Neumann emerged victorious in the second split in the GTP class running the Acura ARX-06 GTP, showcasing adaptability and strategy throughout a challenging endurance race.
The implementation of the rain build update added an extra layer of complexity to the already challenging Sebring circuit. Drivers faced slippery surfaces and reduced visibility, requiring precise control and strategic decision-making to navigate the treacherous conditions. Pascal Stix initiated the race for CoRe SimRacing, handling the wet track to propel the team into an early lead from their 5th starting position in the first third of the race. As the first rain periods persisted, Pascal maintained competitive lap times while mitigating the risks posed by the newly inclement weather. Maik Paluch, who started his first ever race using the GTP category car class in iRacing, had more practice in the wet as in the dry though – nevertheless he was able to maintain gaps and pace for the mid-race segment ensuring that CoRe SimRacing retained their position at the front of the pack.
In the last third of the race, Sven Neumann took over for a double stint to continue the quite solid and perfect strategy covered race for the team to a potential victory. However, the race was not without its challenges. Approximately half of the field, consisting of 50 teams, failed to finish the race due to numerous incidents and crashes induced by these two rain periods throughout the event. Keeping things safe and within boundaries, after 12 hours of lovely endurance racing once again on the iRacing service, Pascal Stix, Maik Paluch and Sven Neumann crossed the line as winners, taking home the victory in Split 2.
