CoRe’s ARL GT Season 6 Review

CoRe Takes Apex GT Trophy Team Championship!

The Apex Racing League GT Trophy went into its’ sixth season in this year and the CoRe SimRacing squad of Carl Winkler, Markus Gunzelmann and Dominik Engel registered to join the GT3 action once again. With a 10 race calendar it was safe to say that another exciting and competitive series was about to start. After four months of racing, the CoRe SimRacing team takes home another Apex team championship with Carl Winkler finishing 2nd and Markus Gunzelmann ending the season in 7th. Domink Engel ended up P17.

The season opener was held at Spa where both Carl and Markus were able to finish within the Top-10 followed by round two, which was raced at Fuji Speedway. Also there the CoRe drivers achieved solid results ending the races safe collecting good points towards the standings as well as the team championship. With a little luck on the side in the first third of the season, the CoRe SimRacing team set priorities straight by finishing every race without a DNF result for the reminder of the season. As a credo to that the squad was about to enjoy a good series result due to a moderate number of incidents in this trophy.

Followed by the venues Watkins Glen, Jerez and Road Atlanta, Carl already bagged in two podium results finishing 3rd while Markus collected valuable points to position himself in the Top-10 within the standings. The sprint race in Jerez was won by Carl which gave him his first victory success in the series. The last third of the season visited Philip Island, Hockenheim, Donington and the finale at Imola. With another podium result at Hockenheim by Carl the points score rose higher for him giving him the opportunity to finish the series on the podium overall. The season finale at Italy, however, had more in its’ bag – Carl was able to take the victory there making it P2 overall. Markus finished the season in a solid 7th position. To round it up, CoRe SimRacing took the team championship by over 200 points ahead of IGL Coatings E-Racing. Congratulations for another awesome result!
