R.Großmann & D.Engel Finish 2nd In SP10 Championship!
The VRS DNLS Community Cup, which is held on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, is a virtual community cup using the iRacing platform. This series includes a multiclass racing format with 4 class categories running six – three hours endurance events in the green hell. CoRe drivers Ronald Großmann and Dominik Engel competed in these events in the Porsche Cayman GT4 (SP10) and were able to finish the season strong securing 2nd place overall. The class victory goes to a dominant BMW M4 GT4 run by SIMMSA Esports.
After an overall mixed start to the season, especially in the rounds two & four – including having pace problems keeping up with the BMW M4 GT4s – the CoRe squad was able to come back in the last two rounds. Focus on the fifth race, where Ronald Großmann competed in a solo run, took advantage from a solid pit strategy and a little bit of a competitors connectivity issue and secured the class race victory. Going into the final race of the DNLS Community Cup season CoRe was sitting third in the SP10 standings, 15 points behind WS Racing Esports. With P3 in qualifying, Ronald & Dominik had a promising starting position for the race. As all plans worked out as intended, the squad finished 2nd to secure P2 in the championship.
Ronald concluded the final race of the season : “At the start, we were able to take advantage of the opportunity and emerged from the first corner into second place, right behind the dominant BMW M4 GT4 of SIMMSA Esports. Locking onto SIMMSA’s slipstream for a few laps, we built a 20 second lead to P3 behind when it was time to pit for the first pitstop. A shorter refueling stop even allowed us to pass SIMMSA in the pits to score a lead lap. However, due to a contact with a lapping GT3, we received damage that made our Porsche a little more difficult to drive. On the second lap after the pit stop, we unfortunately had to give the lead back to SIMMSA Esports with a spectacular overtaking maneuver at the fast Flugplatz corner.
From then on we decided to finish the race as safe as possible and managed to keep the gap to P3 behind. We would like to thank the organizers of SimRacing Deutschland as well as all participants of the DNLS Community Cup 2022 for this great, exciting and above all fair season.”
