CoRe SimRacing ends 2020-2021 DNLS season with three 2nd-place championship results!
It was a radical turnaround for motorsports in 2020 due to COVID-19 – but definitely a great opportunity to digitally remaster the Nürburgring Endurance Series and provide another season of exciting high-tier esports racing and action. A mixture of well-known real-life drivers and esports sim-racers decided to gather together to virtually blast through the Eifel for top-class Nürburgring endurance trophies in partnership with Vodafone, Goodyear and many more.
Setsaas & Jansson first in Z4 GT3, then swap to the new Huracan GT3 – Golombeck & Stix stay loyal to Porsche power
CoRe SimRacing started the second DNLS season with two primary teams : In the leading SP9 (GT3) category Carl Jansson and Sindre Setsaas combined together for the mandatory real-life racer & sim-racer team duo while the SP10 class (GT4) was filled with Pascal Stix and Marius Golombeck. After winning the SP10 category in the previous season as well as securing great podium results in SP3T the year before, the CoRe SimRacing team was motivated to dive into the new season. With new challenges ahead and tackling the GT3 category this time by, the beginning of the season had a rough outcome for the CoRe squad in SP9 after only finishing 6th in the opening race. But potential was seen afterwards as Setsaas and Jansson found promising pace in the new Lamborghini Huracan GT3. Also Stix, who raced in the SP10 class alongside Golombeck in the Porsche Cayman GT4, was also demanded to stand against a competitive Rennsport Online BMW M4 GT4 who grabbed the SP10 championship trophy this time. With several podium results, up and downs and questionable progressions on and off track the CoRe SimRacing DNLS team kept heads cool – and as a reward brought home two 2nd place results to the already nostalgic CoRe SimRacing trophy cabinet. In addition, the new Deutsche Payment Championship, which rewards drivers and teams for less incidents and penalties, placed the CoRe SimRacing SP10 squad in another 2nd place result.
A closing word from Marius to round up CoRe SimRacing’s DNLS season : “Thank you guys for the great performance all season. Our aim was to finish high in the standings – unfortunately it has not been enough for a title this time, but we nevertheless can be very proud of the results we achieved. It has been a pleasure racing with you guys all season. What stands out especially is that you kept the focus on the racing action on track!”
Despite this season has ended, the digital Nürburgring endurance series and its’ organizers are already planning and building things up for it’s third season : “The second time is a repeat – but a third time makes it a tradition.” The third season of the DNLS starts November 27th 2021 with another five-event season which will provide fantastic virtual motorsports action in the notorious green hell.
