The second round of the Virtual Racing School GT iRacing World Championship was held at the famous Suzuka circuit for a three hours race. CoRe SimRacing Orange with Kimmo Suominen and Sindre Setsaas showed a great race until an unfortunate incident out of the 130R corner abandoned all their hopes for a solid Top 15 result. The CoRe SimRacing Red team with Kristian Skumlien and Maxime Pauly finished in P28.
CoRe Orange qualifed in a promising 20th position after Sindre put in a solid qualifying time. CoRe Red had to start from P46. The start through the Suzuka esses went well until hell broke loose in the Degner 1 and 2 corner. A car in front of Sindre was spun – contact could not be avoided and cars had to go wide through the gravel to avoid any further incidents. A couple of positions were made for the CoRe SimRacing teams as a result. Sindre gained more and more time while he was stuck in a train of cars for the most of his double stint. Before he gave over to Kimmo, the CoRe SimRacing Orange BMW was close to the Top 15 of the field – until it went in for an early pitstop to avoid any upcoming traffic. The CoRe SimRacing Red team fought back into the Top 35 after being stuck at the back for quite some time.
Kimmo took over and immediately started to make up ground. After a battle against the Apex Racing BMW Kimmo was following them through the 130R corner while they lost grip and went into a drift. Kimmo could not avoid a contact and got black flagged due front wheel damage. CoRe Red with Maxime behind the wheel finished the race in P28. CoRe Orange was ending their result in P36.
