CoRe’s ARL GT Pro Trophy 2021 Review

S.Neumann & CoRe SimRacing Secures Both Drivers’ & Team Championship!

The Apex Racing League organized another GT championship – after a successful and competitive season of their previous “GT Trophy”, the “GT Pro Trophy” was an even more rivaling championship for simracers above a certain iRating level. CoRe SimRacing signed up with two squads again – Sven Neumann and Maik Paluch entered the season with a guest driver of Leon Penn while Carl Winkler, Ronald Großmann and Dominik Engel shaped the secondary CoRe team.

The nine-rounds championship launched their opening race at the Daytona Road Course where Sven, Leon and Maik were able to finish with a strong Top-5 result each of them. Being eager to be on the top spots of the team championship ranking, both CoRe SimRacing teams started to perform with robust finishes throughout the following venues as Sven’s first victory of the season followed in race two at Interlagos. With two flawless podium results in Montreal and Laguna Seca, Sven’s performance seemed to be on spot for the remainder of the season finding all the sweat spots in adjusting his setups for his BMW M4 GT3. His team mates Maik Paluch, Leon Penn and also Carl Winkler rounded up their results inside the Top-10 to grab valuable points for their drivers and especially the team’s championship.

Due to vacation of several CoRe SimRacing members the following race at Road Atlanta was mostly a drop result for the team. While Dominik Engel and Ronald Großmann finished their attendances in the Porsche 911 GT3 machine, the CoRe SimRacing two team was also able to sit inside the Top-5’s of the team championship. A little bit of struggle had to be faced at the events of Long Beach and Hungaroring – the setup adjustments, which were quite tough to tune after a build update of the iRacing simulation, let the team fall back. Sven nevertheless, who tried to make the most out of it, finished those venues on a promising 3rd and 4th position.

The penultimate round of the season was held at Road America which provided sketchy racing scenes by the CoRe SimRacing teams. Sven, who was involved in a very questionable netcode turn one incident against series contender B.Tabone, let the stewards in a tough decision. On the other hand, Ronald who also was involved in a heavy crash had to retire his car. But due to focusing on the outcome of the race though, the CoRe SimRacing one squad was able to finish the race inside the Top-10 to gain a last advantage for the series finale at Philip Island. With a low entry field for the last round, CoRe only had to see the finish line in the end – Sven, who finished the race on the podium won the championship while his team, who ended their race inside the Top-6, secured the team championship. The squad of Ronald Großmann, Dominik Engel and Carl Winkler got 4th.

“Kudos to Leon and especially Sven for such a solid performance throughout the season. Despite I was struggling several rounds running that BMW, it is always a good feeling to be able to rely on your team mates when things get tight. Well deserved championship and shoutout to the whole team for working so well together. Absolute pleasure!” – said Maik to round up the season. Leon, who was the guest driver and strong part of winning the championship, had to confess : “I’ve had a lot of fun racing this season with CoRe and appreciate that they let me race with them for this season. I wish you, and the rest of CoRe, the best of luck in the future!” The next seasons of Apex Racing League are just around the corner – it’s just a matter of time when CoRe SimRacing and the current reigning GT champion of Sven Neumann signs up for another racing project at Apex Racing.
